The 2007 Wisconsin Pottery Show & Sale was held August 27th in Madison, Wisconsin.  As usual the Association put together an impressive exhibit titled "Fulper, Clifton & More, the Art Pottery of New Jersey".  The exhibit featured a wide variety of Fulper pottery as well as examples of Volkmar, Jersey City, Poillon, and some of the best arts and crafts era Clifton pottery I have seen.

As far as the sale went, it was great to see and visit with many of our regular website customers and in some cases to put a face to an email address for the first time for some of our newer collectors.  The crowd was strong throughout the day and many pottery shoppers were in a buying mode.

It was good to see the continued interest in Roseville pottery.  We found sales particularly strong for middle period Roseville patterns such as Baneda and Sunflower.  Scandinavian pottery and early Van Briggle also saw a lot of interest from collectors.  Contemporary pottery from Ephraim Faience and Door Pottery was also very popular with the sale attendees.  For whatever reason, interest in Rookwood and Weller seemed somewhat lower than at past pottery shows.

The Wisconsin Pottery Show is likely the best of its kind in the Midwest and is a great opportunity to see some of the best contemporary pottery makers as well as an excellent selection of dealers offering antique American and European art pottery.  If you get a chance to attend it is definitely worth the trip.
