I thought it would be helpful to provide some photos of common Roseville Pottery marks. The image to the left is typical of the bottom marks on Roseville Pottery (with or without the paper label) from the 1927-1935. As discussed previously, patterns from this period would include: Artcraft, Baneda, Blackberry, Cherry Blossom, Cremona, Dahlrose, Earlam, Falline, Ferella, Futura, Imperial II, Jonquil, Laurel, Monticello, Morning Glory, Sunflower, Windsor, and Wisteria.
An example of the impressed Roseville trademarks can be seen in this image. The marked in impressed in the clay and there is no USA marking. As discussed previously this Roseville mark was used between 1935 and 1940 and includes patterns such as: Bleeding Heart, Clemana, Cosmos, Dawn, Fuchsia, Iris, Ixia, Moderne, Morning Glory, Moss, Pinecone, Poppy, Primrose, Teasel, Thornapple, and Velmoss.
An example of the raised Roseville trademark with the USA notation that was used after 1940 can be seen in this image. This is the mark that would be seen on Roseville patterns such as: Apple Blossom, Bittersweet, Bushberry, Clematis, Columbine, Foxglove, Freesia, Gardenia, Lotus, Magnolia, Ming Tree, Mock Orange, Peony, Silhouette, Snowberry, White Rose, Water Lily, Wincraft, and Zephyr Lily.
Greg Myroth – Buying and selling Roseville Pottery
I have a vase that was my Grandmothers. I believe it is a Roseville. It contains a mark on the bottom with a R and v in the circle of the R. I can’t seem to find one with the kind of art it has on it on any of the sights I have looked at. If you could be of any help, it would be appreciated. Thanks…
Trina,
Roseville did use a Rv stamp. Look here for some photos of http://www.justartpottery.com/collectors_pottery/roseville_pottery_marks.htm.
I have a Roseville Ashtray Set Marked #498 and #499 and cannot find the set anywhere in the catalogs or e-bay. Any ideas?
I just got 2 Roseville Vases from my moms estate.
My brother wants them for value, my mom wished them to me, he only wants these vase, nothing else from her house, makes me believe they are worth alot.
Approx. 14 1/2in.
Vista pattern, I was told, I’m having a hard time, reading the bottom, one vase is a blue 5
The other one is harder to read,
could be a 3 but, the top part of the number is faded. Looks more like the bottom of a 3. are these rare,I one on ebay today, looks like it but, the top is shaped different. Has a buldge at the top of the vase and flowers, no colored ring.
Can you tell me why my brother who is an ebay seller for a business, is fighting for these.
I have a small vase w blue script writing and a triangular gold foillpaper label over the writing that says ROSEVILLE Pottery With a capital R and small v inside the top of the R. Can’t read the script because the label is on top of it. Is it a reproduction?
Janet,
The vase doesn’t sound like a reproduction but I would need to see a photo to be sure.
